Hi . Going to be fitting 4x Lucas SFT 576 spots and fogs to my on going project . It's not a rally project or anything just road car . Is it ok to just wire these into the main beam loom . I will be fitting a alternator . .... Ken

you will have to wire them through a relay or you will burn your switch out,fire hazard

I had LR6s wired via a relay into my high beams. My lights have covers so whenever I needed the high beams I would have to take the covers off which was a PITA. I rewired the spots on a dedicated switch.

Out here its a legal requirement that spots must have a seperate switch and dip (turn off) when the high beam dips, so their relay is energised by the high beams, but only when switched on.

Same here in Denmark, and fog lights can only work with either side/ lights or low beam, they must turn off when high beam is on.

If your lights were below 24" centre hight in the UK it used to be (and I believe still the case) they can only be used in fog or falling snow there are also limitations on the distance between lighted surfaces, which used to be pointed out when you purchased a ST lamp bar. If your lights are above 24" you can use on the road but they must only be used with main beam and extinguish when you dip your headlights. On a forrest road you can switch them all on.

what ever combination you use, a relay is a must

the switches and stalks get mighty hot if you don't!
