early thermostat housing

i picked this up from ebay for a few sheckles...
Can anyone confirm that it is an early Mk1 850/cooper thermostat housing
as described?
I cant say ive seen one before with such a flat neck.

I'd say it'll do the job, but if you're looking for originality, it doesn't appear to be the right one.

I have a couple of these on early 850's I thought they were of the correct type, I'll see if I can find a photo.

Don't have a photo of one of mine here, but the 59 register has quite a few on this page:

Some show the flat type and a couple the higher type and or temp sender in housing, but old Engine bay black and white shows flat type.....

I'm fairly sure these were an early type housing.....

It was an option on the Basic Model!

As were screen squirters.
