Oulton Park Gold Cup August Bank Holiday weekend
Re: Oulton Park Gold Cup August Bank Holiday weekend
Monday is a good day for the Tin Tops with no less than three races. There's one each for the pre-66 historics, the MRL Touring Car Challenge with 70s and 80s cars and the Super Touring race with the 1990s cars.
As soon as I spot the entry list on the HSCC site I'll post it up.

The time table has been revised for the Gold Cup. There are now two races for the historic touring cars and the MRL Challenge seams to have been dropped!

The entry list is also now on line
http://www.hscc.org.uk/images/Provision ... ld_Cup.pdf
There are no less than 34 entries in the Touring Car Races including 6 Minis, 4 Imps, 2 Anglias, an Austin A40, a Volvo Amazon and a Standard Vanguard.

Re: Oulton Park Gold Cup August Bank Holiday weekend
Must say i'd agree, over on tentenths there's lots of chat over the very down on numbers entry lists...15 super tourers. I'm almost tempted to give the weekend a miss (even though we've club tickets) It's a shame that it can't get back to a mixed timetable like 2003 etc..Pete wrote:Monday 25th August

Re: Oulton Park Gold Cup August Bank Holiday weekend
A very big thankyou to everyone who made it to Oulton Park Gold Cup and Mondays MCR display over this weekend, especially today with the wet weather which has produced some fantastic close racing and plenty of action.

Re: Oulton Park Gold Cup August Bank Holiday weekend
The 1st Bybox race was possibly the best saloon race I've seen....the weather playing it's part evened up the disparity with the Cortina's and Pete Morgan's heroic effort so nearly paid off, a very fine 2nd. His win in race 2 being just rewards...

Re: Oulton Park Gold Cup August Bank Holiday weekend
I decided on not taking the GT due to the forecast and sleeping through my alarm. Despite missing the morning practice I still had a great day getting wet by the side of the track.
Yes a great result for Tim which could have resulted in a win if the clark of teh course had employed F1 style rules. The only reason Pete Morgan did the fastest lap was he cut the Knickerbrook chicane on lap 2, which also helped with the passing of Mike Gardener up Clay Hill.
Both races were exciting to watch, obviously helped by the slippery conditions. I have a bunch of pictures to get through and will post some up in the coming weeks.

Yes, to those Mini enthusiasts that didn't make it to Oulton on the Monday, they missed an absolute stonker.
Congrats to Pete Morgan and Tim Harber who very nearly won Race 2.
A great days racing all round despite the weather.

Anglias in his class are allowed 1500 , so with all steel bits they can make knocking on for 150bhp which is close to the lesser Cortinas, hence the straight line stuff. No-one has yet managed to get a 1300 Anglia to work as well as in period.
I slightly enjoyed my dice with him but I came from a position of him having chopped off my nose a couple of times when he overtook on previous races. I have to admit that I did a stupid move sticking it down the inside when he was overtaking the Mustang, my only excuse was that my mind was on a couple of issues as the accelerator pedal bracket broke and tucked itself under the brake pedal which made it.... urrrrr interesting.
Borrowed a pedal for the second race so was able to forge on.
The start was a mess as the lights did'nt work so it went on the flag (so I am told). When the Beetle went by me , it kind of woke me up.
Surf collecting footage tomorrow so look forward to in car.
My efforts look adequate for a duffer but as nothing to our Welsh mate's . Not seen this before .
Jesus......
