Heated rear window
I need to buy a rear window for my mk2 Cooper I'm restoring . So I was thinking of fitting a heated one from mini spares . I understand they were fitted as a optional extra in the day . Has anyone got a picture they could post up of the switch they had , and where they were fitted ? . Also what's the best way to wire one up ? .... Thanks .. Ken

Re: Heated rear window
The optional heated rear screen had a switch mounted underneath the dash rail on the right hand side of the steering column. It had a small 2 hole lucas type panel with a standard lucas single click switch & a red indicator mounted.
I'm afraid I don't know how they

Re: Heated rear window
Thanks for info mark . That gives me some sort of idear as to what type of switch to look for . I've got the usual mini Haynes / bmc Books so i will have a look to see if the wiring for one has been included in the wiring charts . .... Ken

Re: Heated rear window
My mk2 has a heated rear window fitted from new. If its of interest to you,the window element wires are so small you wouldn't know it was a heated window compared to the newer rear windows.

Re: Heated rear window
Hope this helps, it's a Mk3 wiring diagram with dynamo and toggle switches. Item 116 on the diagram is the optional heated rear window. The connection points are the same for alternator cars.

This shot of my GT shows were the switch is located to the right of the steering column under the dash rail. However the switch panel should be black crackle finish, not chrome. Also the warning light should be one of those jewel like ones in amber with the chrome rim.

Re: Heated rear window
The original switch panels were Lucas and had a green or blue light in them. There is one for sale on ebay:

Stuart, the chrome one you have fitted is a Raydyot one.
