Odd how some designers get slated for a creation the Clubman and Mk2 Cortina were by the same guy and so was the Hustler and Aston Martin Lagonda Look at the nose and then the price tags

Sorted it for you Unipart. Looks like the offspring of a Status 365 (them again, Rich), a Vauxhall Viva and a Rover SD1 / Ferrari Daytona.unipart wrote:British Leyland Crompton, electric car designed by Michelloti's blind, bitter, (soon to be sacked) tea lady.
Horrid.
But I agree with Mark, that Jem estate cannot and will not be beaten. The most odious creation I've ever clapped eyes on.
Oh, and GRP fumes are great! My garage should be full of them any day now.......

Another strong contender. I think the designer may have just bought a new ruler!
Or of course the sports convertible

Re: Ugliest Mini Based Kit Car Nominations
For definate there are some pretty ropey looking designs there, and the Scamp is for sure one of the worst in my opinion, but to be honest I really like the Jem Estate. Granted the one in the photo isn't a great example but it's crying out for a project - it has some great potential.
Another, maybe not ugly, but not the best looking Mini based kit car would be the Indespension Jiffy. My dad had one for years that he rescued from a scrap yard and we restored it to a certain point and it looked well. He since sold it to a guy in Scotland who converted it into a Romahome camper - for me not the best look for a Jiffy.
As restored by dad (just for fun who can tell what the grille is - hint - one of BLs greatest achievements )

Re: Ugliest Mini Based Kit Car Nominations
Indeed it is - when we got the Jiffy someone had put an opening into the bonnet obviously for a grille of some sort but looked like it had been done Jeremy Clarkson style with a sledge hammer! The grille was a left over from a VDP 1500 that dad drove as a daily for about 10 years until he scrapped it in the late 80s, and was the perfect size to cover the bodged bonnet. So out with the jigsaw to tidy up the opening and then a load of self tapping screws and the job was a good 'un!rich@minispares.com wrote:vpd allegro isn't it?

Earlier Scamps look better than the later ones Mark posted
And here's another (uglier) Hustler

Mark
Just done a search for anything mini based and came up with this , I reckon one of these would look well up around Harrogate with a certain Mr Rich behind the wheel, never new owt like this existed, The brochure says made in Canada , Thought those blokes in north America were smart or are they, just chop the roof off at the waist line and drop this thing over ?????????, good contender, The photo shows without its gull wings, looks like they are plastic in the brochure, I suppose it could be a small Jensen interceptor.
