You can't overtake on the grass, then suddenly decide to return to the track when you realised you've run out of momentum. I did that in 1994 and got a right bollocking from all the following drivers afterwards.
A wiser driver would have eased off, tucked in and waited for another chance.

Looks like in both manoeuvres that both drivers were guilty of going for a gap that didn't exist, but had the second one stuck (that lead to the crash) I'm sure it would have been seen as a demon move!

Quite right. In my book, you can block (once) but not weave....I've had it done to me enough times. The pink car attempted to return to the track by pushing his way back on and destabilised both cars.

Great photo, by-the-way - 'glad it wasn't me though!

looked like a great day out.. great pics and vids to.. thanks for posting.. I have had a look at the incident with the pink car !! very very dangerous to both cars re loss of traction/direction with near side wheels on the grass !! ..very brave or fool hardy.. not for the faint hearted.. he should have bided his time a bit longer ... very entertaining vid tho... foxy52

Oulton was a great day, with plenty of track action. Thanks to Pete and the Lancs Region for organising the club stand. I'll have some pictures and Tims on-board footage posted up in the next few days.

I've edited and uploaded of The Oulton Mini Festival Tim Harbers footage.

First up is Race 1. If you just want to see the carnage then start at 21:30. I recommend getting some popcorn and watching it unfold from the start.

Second is a highlights of qualifying and the races, including a couple of fast laps, a bit of overtaking and a spin of two.

I broke that duck at the Mini Fest, though yes the Gold Cup is usually cold and often wet! I think we're putting in an appearance, if anyone's interested please PM me.

Pete

Are we (lancs mcr) having a display there or something or by 'doing the golden cup' do you actually mean taking part in the racing ?

This is basically what we got sent about it
The Oulton Park Cup will once again take place on August bank holiday weekend and it returns with an amazing racing line up featuring Super Touring Car Trophy, the Derek Bell Trophy, Historic Road Sports and much more. Away from the track, a large military display with vehicles, tanks and a Spitfire will feature, fire breathing Group B rally cars will take to the special stage, air displays will thrill from the sky and as always, a huge collection of special cars will take over every inch of our infield, this and loads more family entertainment will make this years’ Gold Cup an event to remember (please visit our website at http://www.oultonpark.co.uk/, for more information).
We would like to take this opportunity to invite your club to this great event. If your club would like to attend, your members will be entitled to park in our special display area and will receive free entry for the driver over the weekend (please note that passengers will need to purchase tickets through our website, http://www.oultonpark.co.uk/, or at the gate for entry, children under 13 go free).
your club will need to submit a list of cars with registration numbers that would like to attend by 8 August 2014. With this submission please include one mailing address for the clubs ticket packet to be sent to, you will then receive vehicle registration specific car passes and one weekend ticket per car.

Kind regards,
James Caesley
