After a minor mishap taking the engine out of my mk2 my super 4 core rad is no more.
However I found in the spares mountain what appears to be an original brass topped mk2 rad. Is this going to stand any chance of cooling a modestly tuned 1050cc cooper engine, 997 cam, 7.5k red line, 75bhp?

In my experience no... When I started playing with my 998 it needed a rad upgrade. I have always since used the minispares 2 core, with good results.

Yep I've had good experience of the Minispares 2 core rad. And I also had a noticeable drop in water temp on the guage when more recently I swapped to a new water pump with the deeper impeller - http://www.minispares.com/product/Class ... 0to%20shop

Re: Cooling a hot 998
I suspect that the deep impeller water pump will make more difference than the rad.
75bhp is a lot for a 998, but a decent standard rad (after all remember all minis started using the old 36 GPI "S" Rad in the 70's) should in my opinion do the trick OK.
However, the cost of a decent modern MS one is not astronomical is it, and is probably money well spent.
