but seriously

here is the best one I have found so far.

Look around 36 minute mark for the start of the 1966 coverage.

apparently the Cooper S are "1250cc specials"

Australian car enthusiasts and Bathurst fans know that there was no car racing prior to the invention of the big aussie V8 in 1967. Prior to that a few kiddies used to borrow their Mum's cars and do a few laps, but it wasn't a real race.

Actually the crime is that Channel 7 who make a fortune off Bathurst are so ignorant of history - or assume we are - to show Toranas and Monaros in 1965 when in reallity they're weren't even a gleam in the marketeers eyes at that time.

Crap.

Did someone sware and mention V8s? :D Gas guzzling fat tyred sheds driven by ahem! drivers with small parts!

Anyway, nothing wrong in borrowing mothers shopping car for a weekend race - they never notice the dents, bald tyres and blue smoke coming out the back on monday morning like dads do. :)

Mums' shopping carts still get to play at Bathurst occasionally :)
... and it's still an awesome bit of road.
