the live footage of the revival was ace last year, well worth dipping in and out of through out the day

I see the latest "poseur" following on from Daley Thompson's dire attempts in the 90s to become a racing driver in no-time-at-all was also "troubling the marshals" at the FOS.

All the same, I should point out however that this "poseur" is one of the finest athletes Great Britain has ever produced but why do they (obviously) think that motorsport is a piece of cake?

Maybe a MSA authorised competitive hillclimb event at which this car competed on 29th June 2014!

As I alluded to, in my last comment, with the greatest respect to the chap for what he has done on an Olympic level, one shudders to think what might've happened if he was allowed to make the same mistake on the most dangerous race circuit in Britain.....in September....???? In my view he should learn his craft first before being allowed anywhere near the place. Lord March & Co's attempts to reign in as much crowd-pulling fodder should never be able to endanger the safety of other drivers....and I'd say that to his face too; I don't care how many gold medals he has. At least James Martin served an apprenticeship (of sorts) first. The problem with elite athletes and sportsmen is that they have a too massive a view of their own invincibility.....I will not name the examples that have ended in tragedy, out of respect for thier relatives and friends.

I actually think Hoy's done quite well in what he's raced previously and inevitably he'll climb the 'ladder' much quicker than any of his competitors due to the much welcome publicity sought by the race teams that comes with being an Olympian. However he's just found out what happens when you get it wrong on a tight twisty hillclimb in a high powered car, when on a circuit he'd have had room to 'sort it out'.
In an age where 'the car' in general is seen as the work of the devil by the ever controlling green lobby (watched F1 recently?) , especially in competiton mode, it's great to see well known personalities who have a passion for it having a go and promoting motorsport. He did pretty well in the Mini last year without incident didn't he?

Anyway, back to the FOS, I did catch some of it and found it pretty boring to be fair, too many donuts and too many 'sponsor' cars but the Alan Mann Escort looked the part and Paddy in the EJB replica got a round of applause as he went up.

I'm sure he will be able to apply himself to the sport, and will get all sorts of opportunities the rest of us won't, it looks like he has had a fair few accidents in the past, but I guess lots of us have had moments we would rather not have. He was at the Revival last year, Goodwood is not a track you want to come off of as it's so quick with limited run off, and I'm only out there against the clock, not with 30 other people going for the same piece of Tarmac

Actually I've just watched that Hoy crash, definately a case of running before he'd learnt to walk!

I remember the conversation we had whilst were walking the hill when I was lucky enough to lend a hand with a car running at the FOS, it went along the lines of making sure you were on the brakes by the time you had got to the foot crossing boards (number 4 that year?) or you weren't going to make that corner, just goes to show that all the electronics in the world can't beat physics if you keep your foot in too long
