Does anyone know where I can find staples and maybe a stapler to fix the vinyl to new millboard door cards and trim?
The staples have short legs, only about 2.5 - 3.00 mm.

I assume you are in Europe so I cannot suggest sources. Over here I would say get 1/8" long T-50 staples for an Arrow brand stapler.
3mm is a shorter than 1/8 and hopefully your door card material is thicker than what I have used. I have always had problems with the tips of the staples coming through the panel and leaving witness marks on the "front" exposed side of the vinyl.

I couldn't find anything short enough. I contemplated cutting down longer ones but in the end I just used glue. The contact adhesives available now are a lot better than they used to be, so I'm hoping that glue alone is enough.

I couldn't find any short staples, I think that even 1/8th might be too long as I have 2mm door cards. So glue it is then!
