Firestone/BRM Correct Wheelnuts?

Post by amadcitrus »

Hi, I hope someone can help,

I've got a set of the ones on the right in the attached image,
Anyone had any experience with these wheels? I'm guessing they will want some special sleeved nuts, but I can't find a definitive answer on the web for what ones exactly.
I measured the internal diameter of the stud holes through the wheels as close to 13mm, but the outer diameter on most sleeved nuts seem to be larger than that.

If I can avoid it, I'd rather not go down the route of having to expand the holes in the wheels.

Any advice greatly appreciated, thanks.

I had a set of those BRM 5inch alloys on a Mk1 Mini Cooper some years ago. The wheel nuts were chrome plated and rather weak (I broke one or two!) and never managed to obtain correct replacements. I think they did indeed have a washer attached. Lovely wheels, very distinctive, and all the years I owned my car I only ever saw one other set, so quite rare!
Worth persevering with. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

I went to these guys when I needed some nuts for my original D1s.

Thanks for the link Surf. Got a set of GKN's (as per Lotus 47) with the same issue.
