Champion WC 200 Assembly/Disassembly

Post by m1cH1 »

Hi together,

I have some questions about the WC 200 spark plug caps from champion. How are those assembled?
I reckon you crimp the small cap clip to the ht lead and push it inside the cap? Is this right or wrong?

As I have an old set of WC 200s already used with ht leads and they aren´t available anymore, I´d like to reuse them with new leads (the old ones are a little bit brittle). The cap clips fortunately are still available today. So the question is, can they be removed from the caps, or not? And if it´s possible, how can it be done?
(I really don´t want to break them, so I thought I´d better ask here before trying to hard...  )

Cheers, Mike

Hi Mike,
The cable should pull straight out of the cap. I would partly open your vice, slide the cable until the cap comes against the jaws and then give the cable a good pull.

And don't forget to put something under the cap to stop it hitting the floor and shattering.

Good point but any WC200's I've seen are made from a soft material, not Bakerlite as per the earlier ones.
