Well what can I say!

I think I can speak for both Pete & myself when I say thank you to everyone who took the time & effort to come & support us in our first action day. I was absolutely blown away by the standard of cars & people who chose to attend & we could of course not have begun to do it without the help of a lot of other people.

John & Jan who served totally selflessly on the gate all day, ably helped by Craig & JV Wood, Whizzo, Barry Hawkins & Jeff Williamson for their contributions on Saturday evening & indeed over the whole weekend. Javelin for running the track day side for us so smoothly & safely, as well as Richard who gave us the use of his brilliant track that MUST Have been designed for minis.

To be honest, I am still a bit shell shocked at the moment & will post again when I have come down & can see things in a somewhat clearer light.

Thanks to EVERYONE who helped to make our first action day such a success!

Pete, I forgot to add that I followed you round all 3 sighting laps and you had your left hand indicator on... I thought it was signal to pass a few times! You need to check it as well as it wasn't working properly and was flickering rather than flashing ;)

I came home with a duff KAD quick shift and the idea of buying some decent tyres and brake pads!

It looked like a cracking weekend, I really wish I had been able to make it, I would have given me plenty of inspiration to finish (start?) my resto on the Green one. That Inno truly is a Thing of Beauty.

Didn't know that was you Tom... I lent my socket and wrench to someone when they came round asking about this problem - didnt know it was you or I'd have come over to say hi !!

What a cracking day, Mark.

Looks like you've got your Mini mojo back! I only got there for a couple of hours in the morning, due to family commitments. In fact I almost didn't attend, but so glad I did. Best event i've ever been to by a long way.

Any chance of a sticker, didn't get one on entry?

Cheers

Well it sounds like an amazing event - really sorry I missed it but our youngest was really poorly so we were up all night looking after him - have told him he can't be ill next year!

Looking forward to seeing more photos!

billycooper wrote:FANTASTIC Day out, many thanks again Mark and Pete, not much else i can say that anyone else hasn't said, thanks for letting me join in the track fun with my Mk3 !, we bought and built the car for the event, last job was to be the engine, but it didn't get done ,so with only 45 bhp at the front wheels with my standard 1275 engine we had some great track action, what I lost up the straights I think I made up for through the corners !, i'd forgotten how well a mini handles just by fitting a set of adj shockers, hi los, comp bump stops with a bit of neggy camber, and then spending a bit of time setting it up, well worth it, Its been a while !, other than a locking rear brake, which was a bit hairy at times the car ran well. What a cracking little track ! , ill be back next year with a proper unit ! ;)

ive posted some pics on my flickr site, just follow the links and see !

I'm doing the British Hillclimb Championship round in my scooby on Saturday at Barbon Manor, 300 plus horse, but I tell you what, I can't see it being beat by a day spent with 45 horse and with you guys, bloody great day out !, I can't stop looking at the pics !

Oh, was that the original VPR ??
VPR was quite a well kept secret for quite a while as we wanted to surprise everybody. Ant had been keeping us updated for what seemed like years (it was years ?! ) with lots of research going into the car and lots of recording of the restoration since it's discovery. I showed Stirling Moss pictures of it in period with himself at the wheel, as found and mid restoration last July at Shelsley and he was amazed! The car's story will no doubt filter out through one or two magazines in months to come. ;) ;)

It was great to see the line up of Minisprints from the earliest to the latest, five there in total, anyone get a shot of them all together?. Some lovely cars just dotted about the campsite, that Bronze Mk3 S as someone has said already was a peach amongst many. I didn't know what to expect but there was quite a sight to behold when I turned up on Saturday afternoon! Ant, your Woodstock analogy is a cracker. Maaan ! 8-)

I may have to 'sticky' this set of photos Billy, gives a good idea of the day. 8-)

Mini World, Mini Mag, Classic Car Weekly and Classic & Sportscar were all taking photos so there should be some good press in store.
