Cheers Mark! Still needs a full floor, drivers wing, front panel and A panels. VFF is extremely straight though and will make a lovely car.

Well if you need a floor I would like to recommend Fred Walters (Nippycars) When you come to do it make sure you drop him a line. His work is superb. Are you going to use it as is for now Tim?

I would like to get it through an MOT and use it as a rolling restoration. Its been off the road for far too long! Hows my old shell shaping up?

Little bit of news on VFF, the car is going into the workshops next month to have the floor sections replaced! Front panel, both A panels and drivers side wing will all be sorted at the same time. Things are finally looking to be moving on!

Quick update after a morning in the sunshine on Saturday. The engine is now free in the bay and is waiting to come out for a freshen up this Saturday.

I'd forgotten how much fun it was scraping underseal from underneath a Mini!
Doesn't look too bad for 51 years old!

Re: VFF 684 1963 Austin Mini
VFF's engine finally came out of its bay tonight and the 32 year old oil was drained! Very dark and thin but thankfully no bits of metal came out of the sump!
Best bit of the evening came when we inspected the unit and found that the engine sits on a very nice 22G1128 gearbox! Plans now are for the shell to be fitted with new Mini Machine half floor sections, Heritage boot floor and seat pan and full width boot hinge panel.
More pics to follow.

Re: VFF 684 1963 Austin Mini
I find if that old underseal doesn't chip off, I use a garden-type hand sprayer to apply a mix of petrol and paraffin to soften the underseal. Leave for a while to soak in and scrape off with a plastic tool to avoid scratching the paint.
This works even better in the winter when the liquid doesn't evaporate.
