Here in Denmark you get to choose = with that Blue & Yellow Square, or without (but only if you registre the car yourself)

If you buy a new car, and let the dealer do it, you most likely end up with the eu plate

was visiting the local motor office last week, and the guy said it was hard to sell the eu plates

Here in Germany You have to take the EU plates.
Old cars do not have to change, but if you sell it, the new owner has to take the ugly number plates with the blue flag.
