HSCC Touring Car Championship
I have only just found out that Roger Godfrey has won the HSCC touring car championship outright in his MK1. Many congratulations to Roger, he is yet again a worthy winner. He is always there to help if needed .A nice bloke indeed.

I've seen this car racing a few times, it's very fast... but I cant help but think that it looks a bit of a shed close up?Surf 1275 wrote:Yep a well deserved win, well done Roger !

Fair enough if it was beauty competition it wouldn't win but it has lead a hard life for many seasons and has picked up battle damage on many occassions along the way.

Totally agree Mr F. When I last saw it at Oulton from a distance it looked tidy at the speed it was going, I was just disappointed after seeing it up close. It definately has charm though

However to enable us see this in perspective what is this car, is it Appendix K or Appendix K and a bit or some other yard stick, how do we make a comparison? As regards the cosmetic appearance, you pick up knocks along the way, a sort of race patina, very genuine and not to be frowned at, this is most definitely not a beauty parade where the number of spot welds on the side seam is the most important criteria, its about driving and winning.
Again congratulations, great result Roger.
best

Sorry if my earlier posting mentioning this was a bit misleading but I meant it to be admiring. He's worked hard and has even won one round outright.
It's just that many heroic club things just get ignored - Motorport News is now a bit of a joke as regards reporting club racing as far as I'm concerned and each clubs own website are not exactly gushing with info or have any place where members can share stuff - this is why I value this site so much ; it's for people who actually use their cars rather than treasure them too much.

Really deserved result and hard earnt in a mini. As for its appearance if your trying you pick up knocks along the way but its very quick in his hands. He is always on hand with advise and really friendly. I had the pleasure of sharing a table with him at last years HSCC dinner and had a great evening.
