Twin HS4's on a bored 1100?

Post by Cables »

Hi, not technically mk1 related but i'll probably get more sense on here than on any other forum. I'm planning to build up an engine on a budget for my mk3 cooper replica, I've got a 1098 crank and a 998 A+ block lying about, so I'm hoping to combine them with a small valve 12g940 and a mg metro engine, and gt box to build a nice tourer.
Anyway here's the question, I have a pair of HS4's lying about from my 1380 that I took off after fitting a weber 45, obviously they will need there needles changing, but do you reckon they would be overkill on bored out 1100? I want to do the build as cheap as possible and I don't have any more carbs lying round.

They'll work but may not be optimum. Carbs are best sized to the engine's potential HP output;-
