factory paint

I think I know, but can anyone confirm for sure what type of paint the factory used.

And another daft thought I had. After watching the short film you see cars being painted on a moving line. ( see film at 5.45 minutes in )

After they were painted did they go through a long oven on the line, because the paint would take some time to dry properly. How was it done.

As many people will no on here I've been painting for a living for 34 years now . My father was a sprayer and my grandad before him . Now , my old dad has always told me that the factory used stoving enamel . Cellulose was developed for the main dealers to use in warranty work etc . This is not gospel but many people have the similar opinion

There is an excellent article about the roto-dip process in last month's Mini World magazine. The body shells passed through several dips and washes before the top coats of stoving enamel was applied. They also made several passes through ovens during the process. There were rotodip plants at the Austin J40 plant at Pengham, Castle Bromwich and two each at Longbridge and Oxford.
