Help needed ... Identify seat
Georg from AKM asked if I could help identify this seat. I said that I could try posting a few pictures in here.
According to Georg the seats were found in a Mini with some race/rally history to it.
Thanks!

Nice seat! Would love to find a pair of those for my mk1.
I think they could be South African maybe SA cooper? I know they sourced trim locally and some were like buckets. I'm sure someone will know more!

Re: Help needed ... Identify seat
I would agree, it certainly looks like a "Standard Fitment" South African Cooper S seat to me.
Some good pics here on sean1380's SA Mini Forum.

Re: Help needed ... Identify seat
I see similarities, but I also see differences; especially, in the seat pad (the "sit on it part") shape. I guess, like the wrong colour for a S.A. seat, those differences could be explained by the seat having been recovered and slightly modified in the process.

Georg asked me the same questions when I went to meet him a few years ago.
These are underneath is they help?
We came to the same conclusion over a SA seat but it's way out side my knowledge to know if that was right.

Looking at those shots from underneath, it doesn't look like an SA Mk1 S bucket seat. The SA seats are made of fiberglass.
Even the cushion that you sit on has a fiberglass base.

Good call, abri! Certainly something I didn't know about the S.A. Cooper S seats.

Re: Help needed ... Identify seat
They look brilliant - would be perfect in my Tartan red mk1!
You can see some differences to the SA seat in the base cushion where it meets the side panels towards the front and the bit where the back of your knees would be.
It almost looks like they could be normal mk1 seats that someone has modified perhaps? Maybe it's just me but the red vinyl of the side panels looks to be a slightly different colour to the rest of the seat.
Cheers,
Chris
