Lots of classic cars on the road this week, must be a nice treat to go to work in one. Many years ago I used to 'commute' to London once a week return in a '67 Mk2 from Manchester with a 1275 Innocenti engine in it and that was in all weathers. It never let me down ! I'd then hillclimb it and sprint it at weekend (when usually it did let me down !  )

Cool, nice to see spring is near.

we just had 6 sunny & dry days in a row, with temperatures upto 18 degree celcius.

tomorrow the classic car season starts ( insurance ) and the forecast is heavy rain, and strong wind, near hurricane type.

This type of weather will go on, as long as they can forecast.

I use my 1100 everyday in all weathers doing about 150 miles a week to amd from work, and yes its a real pleasure to drive. Have noticed a rise in the number of classics coming out as the weather improves, and their drivers all seem to have a smile on their face.

Drive It Day - 27th April 2014
"The Federation of British Historic Vehicle Club's Flagship annual event. Last year the Sunday Times covering the event estimated that 250,000 historic vehicles hit the roads. Owners had alot of fun but also made the serious point that we need to preserve the right to use our vehicles on the highway."

I was driving through Sheffield today and saw a very nice surf blue mk1. Suspect it might have been one of Brook Shaws? Badged as Morris Cooper with a reverse light on the boot, nice reg plate as well, that I forgot!

Bit of a desert when it comes to my vicinity for early Minis, I can't remember the last time I clocked one of any kind other then the odd Sunday in Summer maybe ? There used to be so many early Minis up here in the 90's, lots of Coopers to. I remember a time before the Rover Cooper came out that if you spotted a Cooper grill shining at you in the distance on the opposite side of the road it'd be quite exciting to see what it was ! It seems people generally only use their cars for shows nowadays, and I don't even do that !

There are some cheap classics that'd make great transport for work though compared to Minis, as pictured previously, I'd even say a nice Metro would be a very practical and fun mode of transport. :o Or a 205 GTI , cheap as chips !

I'm off to work in the 970 in about 10 minutes, comprises of a nice little 15 minute b-road blast.

I drive either of my minis to work rather than the other cars, long as there is reasonably secure parking at the other end.

The Sheffield surf blue Cooper belongs to Martin ******. Wrong interior and phoney RH tank neck but on its way to getting things right. The reg is 3 letters and one number. We have it lined up for our surf blue photoshoot (Dean's 850, my traveller and the Cooper). Also a shoot of 3 x 997's. Tartan red, almond green and of course, surf blue.
I took the green one to Whirlow Park for photos yesterday and ran out of fuel at the top of Eccleshall Road. Just like the old days.

Cheers Nick, it was on Mowbray Street where I spotted it. Think it had plain red door cards so certainly the same car.

Two in two days, just seen a lovely oe white and black van, sign written for a Leeds transport firm, close to my parents house near Wetherby. Wonder what will be bombing about tomorrow?!

Certainly is. Was staring out of the office window last year and an Ogle went round the corner!

yeh, I gather the road is quite well known but to me it's just the way to/from town and painful one at that particularly if I'm on my bike and the wind is blowing in the wrong F direction
