I'm really offended now, I was competing there in 1985 & remember that meeting well. It was the first time Nicky had been to Harewood in about 10 years, his class record had been beaten either earlier that day or at the previous event & he came & claimed it back by about 3 or 4 seconds.

It was that car & that day that got me interested in Downton!

Heres a bad pic of me taken at the same meeting.

Bloody hell, that could be Adam !

That Nicky Porter car spent some time in Lancs as I remember before being sold back to Nicky again, I think it was purple then though ? Does Phil Short still wipe the floor with everyone at Harewood in his Mini ?

I've got some pics of us all at Harewood from the mid 90's (including Phil in his restored Mk1 'S') if I can dig them out, well I say 'us all' I think I'd broken my leg and was out of action.

I do hope not, since it never complied with Modprod regulations throughout (by having a complete fibreglass front end). In Modprod from its start in 1992, and right up to now, the unitary construction must be standard between the wheel hub centres. At long last the rules are now being enforced. Last time I saw PS at a hill climb (09?) he was in an Audi.

Yes Billy ;)

Image

It's still in Cheshire having spent most of it's life in West Manchester. I do remember this car having ally doors and the owner used to get pestered to sell them regularly. It's still got them fitted now though. Lovely photo that Billy can you possibly send me a copy so I can forward it on to the owner ?

Mark, when you competed were there any rules about safety gear or could you wear any old helmet? ;)

Some great photos. I remember a few of those minis well from the Harewood in the 80's. It's just up the road from me and my pal used to be a marshall there and sneak us in when we were skint.

Slight Harewood thread revival, there'll be a Terrapin or two out at Harewood on Sept 20/21st plus Bill Needham is out in his twin cam. If I had a car... :?

Next year Mark?
