Long story short

Weve just got a new super douper fandangled high definition vac forming machine at work so Im going to make my own - 1071bobs is very nice but every so slightly different than the vortz one in some minor details

Plus i need to make it a tad deeper to give mi trumpets a bit more clearance from the wires at the back of the speedo housing.

Not something thats going into production, just into my own jalopy.

If you do decide to make standard ones that have wn extra 50mm clearance I'd definitely be interested as I run a 45DCOE and hate body mods. Sounds like a great idea

I have a Vac former, not very large though, about A4 size! I plan to make some gauge pods and switch panels (If I ever have time!!)

Here you go Pad, better late than never! This new Vortz dash belongs to a MCR member who bought it direct from Nick in 2001.
It looks like he made the mould from a standard Mk2 binnacle to create the standard part and then added the section for the r/counter, its made from fibreglass of about 3mm thick.
Oops! I've just noticed I left a dimension off, its 8.25" from speedo to r/counter centrelines.

I think the cutaway section underneath is to let you fit the binnacle between the upper and lower dash rails

I had a real struggle trying to fit the binnacle into my bare Mk1 shell, not helped by the bottom edge of the dash ending up below and behind the lower dash rail.

could the extra Mk3 parts be sawed off to fit a Mk1 Cooper S?

Bob your a gent - ill draw this up in cad now and make a mental note to move the rev counter up a little to allow for the bottom rail
