seatbeltplanet belts

Post by davidmuir »

Folks, A number of you have mentioned, over time, that you've got belts from Seatbeltplanet in the States............just wondered what the 'deal' with import duty and VAT was? i.e. does it still work out cheaper than getting belts made up in this country?
Thanks,David

Matty got some a while back and they wanted $108 to ship.

I bought them delivered to my house and then mailed them to England. Ask Matty how the money came out...I think there was a good savings. He said they looked good.

Just ordered them at cost of $185 shipped[ belts + bolts +sprung 'tidiers']. This equates to about £112. Will let you know what happens tax-wise once delivered!!

It's all a bit hit and miss if you get caught for the VAT. Due to the amount of stuff that comes in not all parcels get taxed. If you do have to pay it will be 20% of the declared value on the customs slip + a handling fee, which was about £8 the last time I had a US parcel taxed.

If you are quick you could always ask your supplier to declare them as a "gift" on the customs declaration.

Just found the emails.

I paid $53.38 for grey 3 point delivered to my house. Shipping to Matty was another $20.34. I think we agreed the total was about 45GBP but Matty sent me too much money.
