Re: Never wanted something so much!
Some of its sister vehicles surface on various North American auctions and auction sites every few years. One appeared on the TV show "Chasing Classic Cars" where the main character couldn't resist and bought it. Part of the show was filled inside the vehicle with him driving it to show a friend (Jay Leno). I don't know how long he kept it before selling it on.
I found a YouTube link from the show.

Hi Doug, (nice to see you here) I reckon you're getting mixed up with the BMC training buses, This one is a replica of the coach used in the Italian Job.
Much as I admire Rich's old bus, I'd rather have a BMC one. There's one for sale in Australia at the moment - but after the divorce it would cause, I probably wouldn't be able to keep it anyway.

Re: Never wanted something so much!
I particularly liked this bit;
Listed again.... Please, I beg you, for the sake of my sanity, stop calling me pretending to be interested just because you want to find out who owns it or where it is so you can come and take pictures. With all due respect, this is a genuine sale and I really don't have time to waste helping you fill in your scrap book of bus memorabilia, sorry. If you want to come and have a look because you are interested in the possibility of buying it, I would welcome your call!
Rich was always moaning about being stalked by "Bus Weirdos" who would give him all sorts of grief & weirdness throughout his ownership, I always assumed he was exaggerating, but I now know he wasn't.

Re: Never wanted something so much!
ah, my old beauty
god I loved that coach, I still miss it now.
it was great to drive and surprising easy to work on the mechanicals - it was just like a big mini really - everything came undone, and it was all designed to do a million miles a month, so nothing ever wore out.
oh, and the bus wierdos have all been emailing me, sniffing for details about the seller - they are a really strange bunch of people - they make 99.9% of people involved in minis look normal!

Re: Never wanted something so much!
Sorry to say it Rich, but they must have accepted you as one of their own.....
You no longer have a bus, but they are still in touch?
Face it, you're one of 'them' now. Weirdo.
Al
(oh, and if you think bus types are weird - you should meet the tweed wearing vintage and veteran cycling lot - handlebar moustaches, weird tricycles, brogues and one leg of their cords tucked into their socks - they are like the Geography teachers only Masonic lodge. )
