Auction Mk1 Mini's - ibidder.com

1960
Lot 55

"A 1960 Austin Seven Mini saloon, registration number 868 FOD, grey. One of motoring`s icons, the Sir Alec Issigonis designed Mini, debuted at the 1959 Motor Show to universal acclaim. This early Mini has been in the current ownership since 1982. It has been the subject of a sympathetic restoration which was completed by the vendor in 2009. We are informed that the body received two new front wings and a driver`s door skin and the Mini was fully resprayed in grey with a white roof. The interior is original apart from new carpets, and the engine and running gear are original to the car, with the latter only needing servicing and detailing. The vendor believes that the recorded mileage of just under 44,000 miles could be correct, due to the lengthy period of inactivity (1982 - 2009) but unfortunately there is insufficient history to substantiate this. Offered for auction with past MOTs and sundry paperwork, this delightful Mini now restored to its former glory awaits an appreciative new owner. V5C, MOT to June 2014, tax exempt."

1962
Lot 56

"A 1962 Morris Mini-Minor 850 Deluxe, registration number 7727 MU, cherry red, one lady owner and only 40,000 miles from new. 7727 MU was purchased new by the one and only registered keeper, Mrs Marie Josephine Morris (very apt) in 1962. As a young, newly qualified teacher Mrs Morris would walk past the garage on her way to work and admire 7727 MU where she was displayed. On receiving her first pay packet Mrs Morris made a down payment and became the new proud owner. Mrs Morris would use the Mini until 1976 (last tax disc displayed) whereupon the car would remain in garage storage. Presented in wonderful original and unmolested condition with matching numbers, the interior still retains the dealer supplied clear plastic protective seat covers. 7727 MU is offered for auction with MOTs from 1967 to 1976, period insurance documents, a tax disc from 1965 and the original RF60 log book. This time warp example of Sir Alec Issigonis` iconic Mini is now ripe for sympathetic restoration and would form part of any important collection. RF60, no current MOT or tax."

Love that red '62 car :) . I suppose it's a very early Super Deluxe rather than a deluxe, as it has the oval dash and corner bars. And surely it's Tartan Red rather than Cherry Red. By the time I'd paid the expected price, plus premium etc and then done all the work which'll be required it would be outside of my budget I reckon :( .

That red one is a bit special!

Reminds me of WVN 24, the cherry red one I turned into a racer

The 62 would be lovely to recommission rather than restore.
