MCR website

Hey guys, itmay not be the right place to ask this, but I registered with the MCR, the payment went through, they sent me a username and password, but I can't even contact them to say I can't get on the website. Any idea on what to do next ???

If you go to the MCR forum and follow the instructions that should take you through.

I may be wrong, but I suspect that the user name etc that you received with your membership is to do with updating your own details via the MCR website and not a forum username etc.

You don't have to pay anything to join the MCR forum, so as Colin says above, Simply register on the Forum with a user name & password & you should be off & running.

Ive tried on my p.c.,phone,laptop's and tablet's ( chuffing nightmare for a ludite technophobe northerner)..all different operating systems and its totally snafu'ed again......hope they give the developers a kick up the ar*e,what a waste of money,the posts have been very thin on the ground since it has been back online, and numbers had just started creeping up again....now its just back to square one....

I tried yesterday on my vintage Dell which runs Windows XP and IE8 and it took ages for pages to scroll. I thought it was my vintage Dell, but I guess it's the attackers again.

Site is now offline.

We are back up and running again, having yet again been attacked by Malware

Sorry for the downtime - we had to take it down to cure the problem before it got out of hand like it did last time.

We have gone to a new server to set up an all new Forum and had them transfer all of the old posts from our outgoing server - and of course that has incurred a cost. However, our MCR webmaster has been working tirelessly, in the background, with these people, making sure we get this sorted as quickly as possible. And he gives of his time freely for the benefit of the MCR members.

I don't doubt that but is it me ? the format and make up of site ,the navigation is not a patch on the orig website design.. ??!! it just looks a bit alien to me ?? ..but then its prob me and my ways !!! now Marks site is brilliant !!!.....I spose I just don't like change eh ?? foxy52

You are not the only person to think the new layout is a mess , but a good layout takes a fair amount of work to achieve,I am beginning to wonder wether its the layout, or the signing in/up process that is keeping the post numbers very very low , or the worry of malware infection.....but it is quite sparse on new content/new posts....even after I posted a link to the discovery of a works car ,it only has four replies to this great news , this from a car club that has registrars for works cars , and works car owners amongst its membership ?? and is dedicated to coopers of every persuasion...I personally cant wait to see it get back to being as active as it was before the nightmare of malware raised its head..
One of my biggest worrys though Foxy is that money is having to be spent that may detract from the M.C.R. funding the N.E.C.. we ( Lancs Region) have already been turned down flat last year, after we made a request for £200 to help towards funding a show ,which we had already organised....and then had to cancel....As members we all know they have to watch the clubs money carefully.

Its to complicated , you have to scroll past 2 pages of the committe rules, regs, do's, donts , pay your mortgage etc before you end up looking at the forum

its just to bloody serious and i know its been done to try and stop the few dickheads out there that ruin it for everyone else but the whole mini community knows who they are anyway - although the MCR commite dont seem to

Yes, as I explained before, we have paid for a new server to set the forum up . Nothing comes free these days. Robert Clayson has also spent hours and hours working with them for absolutely nothing, so that members can use the forum. Sorry that you don't like the forum.

There are some problems with certain parts of the forum.
I found a good Mk2 Cooper on a different website and tried to post a link.
In the 'cars for sale' section you can browse ok not 'signed in'.
As soon as you log in and try to add to the thread it hangs ...
I hope it gets sorted as there's lots of great reference material on the site.

The hanging thing or 'working' as it appears on my screen has been present since the outset but ive found if you just give it a bit of time the post does eventually go through. To make sure though, I tend to select preview after making a post, as well as control C (i.e. copy) the text beforehand to make sure i've got it in case it does go awry! Not ideal I know but I think we have to accept there are going to be these initial problems that'll hopefully sort themselves out over time. As regards, the look of the new forum I'm not keen on it either but again surely this can develop into something more accessible in future - the main thing now is to support, rather than knock, the new forum by posting. Niall (aka top poster as of a few days ago!).
