Let's take this with a bloody big dose of reality here.
A Mk3 S with a funny registration plate, £30k?
That's an old mini with a slighly different engine from your auntie's Metro. It's a freaking mini. Mk2 and Mk1 minis are different, they are quite clearly "classic cars". That Mk3 is pretty much the same as my girlfriends old Mini City E....with an MG Metro Engine.
It is completely daft. You have people bidding 120mph speedos up to £500, glass washer bottles for £300, "Bus" Steering Wheels for £250. It has gone insane. These are old mini's for god's sake. Occasionally, you get a bloody nice Mk1 Cooper S rally car (like that one we enjoyed on ebay the other day) which was worth a £25k as it was special. The majority of old minis, including Coopers and Esses are just old minis. It has gone totally silly.

I have pretty much got that car sat in my shed. Most people would not be able to tell the difference. It is a better spec and is in better condition. In total, in the last decade has cost me a nadge over £2k. It's an old mini for god's sake.
Where I live, in Cornwall, we are talking 2 years wages (average wage) after tax to pay for a Cooper S. This is bloody ridiculous IMO.
I can understand it if it was the Peter Sellers car, or the one owned by elvis, or an ex racer, or littered in period rarities, but these are just bog standard old minis. It has gone insane.
When I have mine back on the road, it will be so valuable, I wont be able to enjoy it!
