thanks for all you nice replys, its been a 6 year on and off work to get to this stage

pete, its was one of the panel beaters that said that, so lucky its not one of the painters,
they are a very good paint shop, a mate of mine has worked there for around 8 years as a panel beater, they did my daily car after a little brat rod past on his bike and put a handle bar gouge in my door and rear panel , they made it like it was never there, and also i just seen them finish a Australian mk1, its was spotless, so i am happy its going there

the original wings had holes to mount the mirrors to.

but i did not like the look, so i am going for one of those overtaking mirrors that mounts to the seam strips

also drill the holes for the upper trim if needed

that was the biggest problem i had reasbeling my 66 hornet the holes for the upper trim
drilling after paint and then clips that dont fir for the lower trim

Make sure you have welded the engine steady bracket on as welding it on after the car has been painted can be messy!

I am not prepared to say what made me think of this one

Mark,s post reminded me of my original boot board brackets (again )

still have them, and some day they will go back in.

- Earth nuts (boot and wing)
- Petrol tank vent pipe and petrol holes
- Rear radius arms shrouds captive nuts
- Give form to the 4 body seams
- Check the tabs for the wire loom are all there and strong and 'open' them to get painted. The same for the battery cable channel under the car and tabs on the rear seat (boot side) for the petrol vent pipe and wire loom.

Make sure the headlight retaining plastic lugs fit.

surf , you shocked me there, but when i went back over the garage i had a look and yes they are there, PHEW

i ordered a body plate from tim at mini mail ( top bloke sent it out fast cheers) thats now spot welded to the front panel.

doors now have there strikers and locks fitted, glad i did as one need a bit of fettling ,but now they close flush.

i did think last night when i was over the garage to check the headlights rims etc, so i do that today

one more seam strip to test fit and its ready for paint.

thanks for everyones help. there were a few things that i did not think of ,and i glad people mentioned them, as it really did need looking at before paint

give it a month or so and i put some picture up

Hi Dean best to put some top coat under door hinges because water can get trapped under them just a thought and if there is no paint the dreaded rust will appear, nice car cheers Brian.
