Not only the tags but also the bodies which don't have a vacuum advance unlike 997 and 998 carbs (which have one on the left hand carb body as viewed from the front of the car)...

All the original S carbs that I've got do have the vacuum take off on the left one. And they are def originals, but I think this topic has come to discussion quite a number of times now.

I would agree with you but if you look closer, the carbs do have the take off (RH carb).

850 carbs have the take off on 'the left carb' as it's the only body they have, original paired twin SUs (based on the AUC1342 & AUC870 bodies) have the take off on the the right hand carb and not on the left. All original S pairs I've come accross so far (dirty, untouched, with tags) didn't have any take offs, but I'm sure there must be exceptions. However those take offs had to be covered/blanked. How?

Still there, something wrong with the link in Mark's post the one above still works

suspect shill bidding surely, if this is a indication of how much a hard up mini shell is worth the world has gone mad lol

It does seem expensive - although when the racing boys need a replacement shell what do they do??

Hope nobody's bidding on the basis of buying an attractive registration number. It seems to belong to an Audi now ;)

Only a suicidal maniac would use this as a base for a racer.
I have one a lot better than that and would expect to get c. £4000 from a racing colleague in the event of a shell write-off. Every 6 months someone or other rings up and bids me stupid money for it but no sale I'm afraid. it's just where that market is.

Shill bidding on Ebay, surely not :o . I'd love to know how Ebay justify these "private" listings seeing as normal listing don't show bidder's ID's anyway.
The more shill bids, the more fees though I suppose and there's certainly lots of it going on..
