Re: 1966 Janspeed Unipower GT
That answers a lot of questions.
A great find Pete, can't wait to get some action shots in May.

Nice purchase Pete. Really nice to see cars like this going to a good home. Can't wait to see it transformed to its former glory.

Fred I do recall the car was said to have been a "copper colour" by the previous owner in Scotland so that does stack up. I'd love to have paid 1000 Euros for it though !

Re: 1966 Janspeed Unipower GT
In this shot ...
..you can just see a little opening in the body behind the front wheel arch , part of the aero development and still on the car. Not something I've ever seen on any other racing Unipower. However the rear grille apeture has been partially filled in (though is still there inside) so needs to be reinstated at some point.
Nice little piece on Unipower here : http://www.miniexperience.com.au/filead ... ipower.pdf
Some reading here from Jeroen :

Re: 1966 Janspeed Unipower GT
You could use it in the DEWSC speed championship, we always need competitors in the Midlands and North, this year we have events at Harewood, Loton Park and Llandow (well its the North to me, thinking about it every where is North to the south coast) the class has a couple of GTM's at the moment and the Unipower should be very competitive, so what stopping you get your fireproof baby grow out!!

Re: 1966 Janspeed Unipower GT
I'll certainly bare that in mind David, haven't been to Loton in many years. We (MCR Speed Challenge) used to bring a dozen or so cars to Loton, great venue. My Unipower has done a bit of sprinting, here at Woburn with Brian Harvey in 1968 :davidnutland wrote:You could use it in the DEWSC speed championship

Re: 1966 Janspeed Unipower GT
Having spotted my car (bottom left) in his fuzzy little shot from Snetterton (July ?) 1968 I've just been promised some colour transparencies of it in action, will post up when I get them.

Re: 1966 Janspeed Unipower GT
Thanks Jens, I've blown that up as I'm sure you did and whilst checking out the script on the side I also noticed it doesn't appear to have it's original solid flat three spoke steering wheel on it (still hasn't). Anyone able to identify the section of wheel visible ? Maybe the steering wheel was Mabb's choice ?

Any particular reason the speedoes NEVER work / are disconnected ?
Seem to be a normal thing to do.
Does it have something to do with focus / concentration ?
if not connected, why not remove it .
