Any one know what this bit is and where i can get a new one?

I've seen them on ebay, referred to as single speedo housing, centre binnacle, speedo pod and all sorts.

Early, pre 63 ones were paper mache, then they went on to cream coloured plastic. Late vans had a black one. Finding a really nice condition one is getting tricky nowadays.

Door check strap retainer, and a headlamp dip switch mounting gasket!!

Have you got the other plate the one that fits on top of the strap the one in the photo fits under the door strap

If you look closely you can see the black retainer wrapping over the door seal beneath the blue strap.

The check strap plate in the picture is a stiffener to protect the door seal from the rubbing action of the check strap and goes on first followed by the strap itself the strap has a thin cover/load spreader trim piece that goes on top all held on with two countersunk machine screws.

Ok here are 2 more for you.

I don't think the sound proofing is off the roof because I have already fitted that.

The first is a knock on type wheel weight no ideas on the sound proofing.

The piece of soundproofing looks to me as if it goes underneath the rear seat squab?
