I have activated quite a few "odd" user names over the last few days. If anyone notices any spam on the board, please can thy let me know via PM or e-mail as soon as they spot them so I can take the appropriate action.

This is exactly what began to happen on the M.C.R. forum. it seemed like they suddenly had lots of "fans" from strange places with even stranger names...(pad4 and Darwen excluded) none of them posted anything at all ,then lots of links and posts cropped up as being infected with malware...resulting in a full shut down , server transfer etc.

I have always kept a very tight reign on Spam & there is absolutely no need for people to worry that we could be exposed to a similar attack as experienced by the MCR forum. My message was simply to ask that people keep an eye out, as a lot of long standing members always have done.

I have gone back to manually checking all membership applications myself so there should be far fewer to worry about in the first place.

So, KEEP CALM & CARRY ON!

Well, I'm glad to say that with a couple of tweeks to the Captcha questions I seem to have foiled the spammers again for a while at any rate.

As long as I keep upto things, I reckon we should continue to be safe.
