British Mini Club

Post by minidean »

Is anyone a member of the British Mini Club or similar? I was wondering if it was worth joining either the BMC of any other club? What do you think??

Thanks

The Mini Cooper Register (MCR) is well worth joining simply for its monthly 'Cooper World' magazine alone. It is packed full of interesting features and not just about Coopers. There are registers within the club that cater for various non-Cooper models too.

I would go for the British Mini Club and use this forum...support and Knowledge from both....If you are a "works" car fan then the mcr would be good.

As said by Garry, the MCR is a good club with an excellent monthly magazine.

I would hope that people would want to join any club for more than a magazine...most clubs have regions which vary in activity levels and support...so it depends just what you want to get out of a club...some of the smaller local clubs are very active and close knit so often can be more personal , compared to some of the larger clubs which just seem hell bent on growing the membership numbers at all costs, and only catering for a small exclusive minority of core members.

I joined the British Mini Club for a year. Rubbish mag and no local regions. All they seem to do is put on more and more of the same type of show somewhere in the Midlands.

The Mini Owners Club used to be quite good for Mk1 Minis, and despite rumours of it's demise still seems to be going. There's a club called Club Mini Classics which is all about early cars but is very small, I started a Non Cooper Corner in the Mini Cooper Register to cater for all non Cooper badged Minis as has been mentioned and then you've got local clubs which may suit you Dean , depending on what they're like. The advantage there is you'll get some local events with fellow Mini owners. British Mini Club at least do put shows on in the middle and north of the country which has got to be a good thing.Their Bingley show is on early in the new year and usually extremely busy.

There's always the Mk1 Performance Forum which I'd recommend. They've got their own show on in May you know ! 8-) :D

Mk1 Performance Forum is definitely the way to go! Looking forward to a short jaunt up to Blyton in May and another enjoyable Beaulieu in June!! :D
