Birmingham - One Million Along 1965

"One Million Along"

Longbridge, Birmingham.
"Interior of car factory showing line of Minis, in the foreground is no. 999,999 and behind it is car number one million. C/U of the Millionth Mini. C/U of board on top of Mini reading "Mini 1,000,000", pan to Mini designer, Alec Issigonis and Bill Edwards, Production Manager. C/U of Issigonis. L/S crowds of people around the mini. Issigonis gets into the mini. C/U people watching. Issigonis drives the mini forward. C/U people watch. M/S of Mr. and Mrs. P.S. James, winners of the millionth Mini being presented with the keys. C/U Mr. and Mrs. James smiling happily."

OK so where is it now? was the chassis number known?

It was for sale at an auction I went to a good few years ago (maybe 15 yrs), complete with the sign in the photos, it was in good original condition then.

Mini Cars Off Production Line - Colour 1969
"Various shots of the lorries loaded with Mini Morris cars leaving the factory. Various shots of the people working inside the factory - various Morris cars and vans being made, fitted with inside parts, polished, etc. Several shots of the people test driving Mini cars in and outside the factory. More shots of the lorries loaded with Minis leaving the factory and driving along road."

Also look out for 621 AOK and LBL 6D parked up outside and Mini No. 2 Million.
