NEC Classic Car Show
Anyone else been to the NEC for the classic show this year ? Visited today and thoroughly enjoyed it, it's absolutely massive show this year, quite a job to get round and talk to people in the day. Didn't take a camera but there were some nice Mk1's in various places. Several poster's cars in attendance : Uncle997's (Barry's) HSCC racer was on their stand, Mk1Miniman (Trev's) 1071 was on the BMC stand amongst others.
Found some great old mags and photos, especially shots of the BRT Buick racing plus some great Unipower stuff which will be winging their way to Jeroen imminently.

Re: NEC Classic Car Show
I've been going down to this one on and off for several years, this year was the best one for a long while, we were down on the Friday. The jumble was much better this year, last year was a waste of time with way too much new stuff. There's always a fantastic range of cars, its great to see the Fords getting so much attention with some first class restorations. One thing I would say is that it felt much more crammed in this year, I dread to think how busy/full it was yesterday and today.

We started going on the Friday as the weekend was getting so busy, but even the Friday is now packed. All good news for our 'hobby'.

Very enjoyable weekend. Tiring time though after 3 show days and build-up day but well worth it. Met lots of interesting people and a lot of old friends. Congrats to Jason & Tanya for winning car of the show with their Speedwell Blue 1960 Mini.

Congratulations indeed - the Mini looks great and there must have been stiff competition .minimk1man wrote:Very enjoyable weekend. Isn't the car an Austin version though?

Re: NEC Classic Car Show
First time visiting the NEC and I was taken aback with the standard and range of cars.As a long time BMC/BL fan there was loads to keep me happy and loads of stuff in the autojumble to empty my pockets. Will be heading back next year for sure.

Went on the Friday with me dad. Was a brilliant show, way too much to look at properly in a day, and was really busy. Quite hard to get proper good photo's of cars due to the amount of people. Managed to pick up two lucas 608 mirrors, and one even with what I think is a mini mounting for 15quid for my current project. Caught up with a few friends and would certainly go again.

That's great isn't it. 65000 people, and it felt like it !
I was sat chatting with one of the traders and yes whilst most browsers of his stall seemed older than me it was great to see some young kids come along asking for bits for Minis and Escorts. They're not all into clapped out Puntos !
