Dipstick retainer

Post by KA2S4 »

I want to make one of these for my 970S motor, any ideas how the works/race boys used to do it?

Was the spring like a bonnet lock spring? Any photos much appreciated.

james.

Or just use a SU Carb spring. Looks period too.

Thanks Paul.

I need to make sure the oil doesn't all come out at high revs, i've heard this particular motor runs best with about 9 litres of oil in it ;)

Not sure how the Works Team used to do it, but this system has worked on my historic racer for more than 20 years ;)

Cool trick with the zip-ties on the plug wires too. Thanks!

I used a clutch retaining spring for this on my racer, the dip stick never rattled or fell out, but I did run the risk of skewering my thumb every time I checked the oil
