Any feelings on what that will go for in the current climate?

A similar car sold at auction for over £30K including premium earlier this year - not that I'm suggesting that was a sensible price you understand - so on that basis I'd be suprised if this one sold for under £20K?

Amazing that they keep turning up isn't it? What was it worth in 1980? £500??

Those mega prices seem to depend on how original it is and what day it is, the green one that fetched a stonking £30K in Devon was virtually untouched. This one's been restored, has suffered from damp storage and with an auction you never know. Two Cooper S's went pretty cheap at H&H a few months ago, a mint Mk3 especially for under £10K, so you just never know ?!

I like the strategically placed rubber mat to cover the floor damage ....

This car is quite genuine, I sold it to the man in 1980. At the time it was totally original but a little 'scabby' in places. I had the rolling shell stripped and repainted, that's all, no panel change or repairs necessary; when finished it was difficult to tell it had been done. The interior was original and unmarked. At the time it was certainly one of the best 'S's around. It is a great pity to see it like this but at least it has survived.

Garry.
