731 in 1071

just starting engine rebuild for my 1071 only want to do a mild tune, just wondering if 731 cam would be ok it is only a road car cheers Brian.

Hi Bri,

I think the best thing is to draw your attention to a letter in the mk1 archives from Downton about the 731, to paraphrase, the 731 ONLY works in a 997 Cooper with a small bore & long stroke, exactly the opposite to the large bore short stroke 1070.

The SW5 is very mild & works well as a road cam in a 1070.

Same advice Downton gave me. They didn't have a lot of use for the 731.
