Windscreen wipers that slip

Post by rolesyboy »

Hi All. Bought Minispares wiper wheel boxes for my Mk1 a while ago to avoid silly things like slipping wipers anfd being caught short. I used them with the corresponding 'new' wiper arms and blades (again from Minspares) and after approximately 3 outings (largely sunny days with a light rain on one outing) the alloy splined shaft lost its splines. Whilst the wiper wheel boxes continued to spin the wipers didn't. Bit irritating as I had a list of other 'new' parts from Minispares that lasted me all of 400 -800 miles (solenoid, coil etc)
Anyway they swapped the wheel boxes for replacements. On inspection the new spigots had much beefier looking splines. Great. that should solve matters. I put the wiper arms back on and once again the wheel boxes rotate as they should but the spigot barely contacts the insides of the arms. The splines on the arms are not gripping the wheel box spigot. What do I do??? Any other suppliers sell an alternative?? Cheers. Mark

Is there a problem with the wiper arms then? If they are the MS uprated wiper arms then there has been a manufacturing problem with these in the past. The arms do not fit onto the splines corectly.
