Re: rosepetal question
If with "original rosepetal" you mean to say Cooper mag's (the ones that Cooper made and that's without the Cooper Car Co in the rim) than it 4,5" but if you refer to rosepetals (i think Vortz started to call them like that) then it's 4,75" as Vrotsos just made them in his design a little wider on the inside.
Side by side they are not the same but alike.

I can/will buy a set of rosepetals, but would like to know what they are before.
I have some pictures, but can not load them up now.
Can anyone here do that for me?
i can send them via mail....

Re: rosepetal question
Andreas, I can post your pics, send them to me.
Sadly the derrington description doesn't give a wheel width;

Re: rosepetal question
I have a set of what I believe to be original Rose petals and they are 4 1/2" wide , measured at the inside of the rim lip.

Re: rosepetal question
my questions do not end....
I have the wheels now, they are 4.5 inch wide.
This is a point for cooper car co wheels.
Is it right that the vortz wheels are all 4.75 wide ?
In the Derrington ad, the wheels are advertises as magnesium wheels with 6 lbs,(2.72kg) but my wheels are 3.4 kg each.
My 4.5 inch Minilite magnesium wheels are at 2.4 kg each....
I do not believe that my wheels are Japanes copies, because the seller had them for 25 years.

Re: rosepetal question
As far as I´m aware, all Vortz 10" CRs are 4.75" wide... 4.5" should be cooper car co from the ´60ies. Some of the details in your pictures also speak for this...I have the wheels now, they are 4.5 inch wide.

Re: rosepetal question
I thought the originals had the smaller centre hole, which made it harder these days to get the wheels balanced ?

They do/did, and yes - it was a "pigs" job to get the wheels balancedtjw89 wrote:I thought the originals had the smaller centre hole,

Had to make adaptors, and recut the thread, on 4 of my wheel nuts.

Re: rosepetal question
I think there is a chance that the holes have been made bigger for easier balancing.

Re: rosepetal question
Here's a pretty early shot of them being used on a Cooper Car Co race car, this being the first appearance of a 1275 'S' at Silverstone, May '64.
I do remember seeing an ad for them being introduced from mid- late '63. Can I find it though ?

Re: rosepetal question
A lot of the originals had the centres machined out for exactly that reason. M
