great idea pete, I would be prepared to put on a tour around the lakes in the spring, maybe meet at a services on the m6 on a sat, then a nice drive around the quieter roads in the lake district, could look into camping overnight on the sat night and then home sun, would do the route on marked maps , would this appeal ??

Sounds great John, not been up to the lakes for many a year sadly. May have been a Cumbria Classic Caper ?

that event still runs under a new name, Cumbria classic, will see what interest there is and then get sorted, have a few ideas in mind, the classic passes for example , would be good to get out in the cars, then round a camp fire and have a reet good laff :D

Ok folks, so inevitably this will boil down to money, doesn't it always ?

To hire Blyton will require a commitment from thirty drivers to take part in the track day itself at a cost of around £125 per car. Personally at this stage I'm not entirely convinced that would be achievable. The other options (other than an anonymous minted member of the forum posting me a cheque for £4K  ) include sharing the track with another club , which I'm looking into at the minute, or going to a cheaper sprint track like Curborough (only one car allowed at a time) :? . Blyton have already offered us a Sunday in May or August, they have literally two weekend days left available in 2014.

One more option is just deciding when we want to do this (May sounds a good time) and all booking separately with a trackday company such as Javelin or Apex. This way we don't have a financial risk and we still all have a get together, drive our cars around with hopefully our Minis taking up a large chunk of the entry (but the day would be shared with a variety of modern machinery). We could also have a Mk1 Performance area for people just wanting to bring their cars along for the day, maybe give a prize for 'car of the day'.

Let me know your thoughts.

Personally speaking I would love to be able to hire Blyton for the day in May, but unfortunately I can't stump up the four grand it would take to book it. IF we can get the numbers we need this would be my first choice by a mile.

Booking in as a group with another track day operator is certainly a second option that would suit me if there was no way we could get the numbers needed for our own.

So, I guess it comes down to this!

How many members would genuinely be interested in coming to Blyton in May 2014 for an exclusive early Mini's only track day? All members, friends of members & pet dogs with a current driving licence are welcome.

The ball as they say is currently FIRMLY in your court.

Please feel free to express your preference using the poll provided. In the separate thread.

What a fantastic idea!

I'd def be up for Blyton or Curborough in May, it would either be in my Inno if I get it finished, or just spoken to Tim and he said we could share the drive in his Inno Cooper. So potentially two Minis on track. How would you feel about me using the Frogeye if I don't get my Mini done, is it strictly Mini only?

Pete, ask if they'll do it for 'cash' :)

I don't think I would be out of place in saying that other "similar" marques would be welcome.

All Innos, Authis, Vans and variants (even unsightly plastic ones designed by blind men & built in leaky garden sheds) are perfectly acceptable & very welcome.
