Ride Height Question

What's a good starting point for ride height on a fast roadgoing mk1 cooper S. I don't want stupidly low, but equally it doesn't have to be standard.
It's running on 10inch minilites and dunlop tyres.

Also, do you measure from the floor to sill, or floor to external seam between the doorstep and sill?
Presumably a 3/4 inch rake from back to front is about right?

the best rule of thumb is three fingers between the arch and the tyre for road use

two fingers for hard road or track days.

anything less than two needs further work to stop bump steer, tyres rubbing etc

That sounds like a reasonable place to start!

I don't want it too low as it has full length shocks on and standard bump stops. I want it to handle properly!

I would look to have the drive shafts level - probably very close to the 3 finger rule - and should put minimum strain on the drivetrain under hard acceleration

3/4" higher at the back sounds about right too.

How was the rest of your Sprint season - you haven't sold your Radical to the guys from Evo mag have you

I've kind of got used to setting cars up on ride height figures now - it's so long since I did my last mini on hi los that I don't have the figures anymore.

The rest of the season was pretty good, finished off by beating the Audi at Colerne and getting 10th in the Run off. Not too bad for a porky overweight Radical!
The radical is up for sale now, but isn't sold yet, so if you hear of anyone that wants a really good well set up radical ..........
