'Period' Photos of a 1960's 'Mini' family!
Some very nice period photos below of a couple of Mk1 Mini's that were posted on the 'Surrey New MINI' forum by a fellow New MINI owner and SNM member 'Roger34'.
Roger has been kind enough to give me his permission to share these 1960's family photos with Mk1 Forum members
The Austin Seven Mini 485 CUW was his dad's first Mini that he raced & also used as a family car in the early/mid 1960's. The photos were taken when they went on holiday to Belgium & Holland. Roger is the smallest of the three children in the pics.

The white/black Mini 850 (RLB) with the boat that they towed as well, was another family Mini, the photo was taken about 1968.
Also Roger learnt to drive & passed his driving test in the White 850 Mini "RLB" and will be interested in any comments or info...and of course to find out if they are still around?

Nice pictures
Good with some history to the car(s)
CUW looks well "blinged out" cool.
Thanks for posting.

Great period shots. Nobody'd been caught sticking that Ritmo dash padding on nowadays but I love all that old tat.

Brilliant photo's. Nowadays this sort of family trip doesn't appear possible without a huge MPV, just goes to show how practical the Mini was in its day.

You can't beat a pic nic by the side of the road. Try it nowadays & I reckon you'd get moved on by the traffic wombles
Seriously though, this is a fantastic set of pictures that really give an impression of the time they were taken.
Thanks for sharing,
M

I love the color combination the first car ended up with, the black roof goes really well with that smoke grey/speedwell blue or whatever the color of the body is.

all it needs is a pair of stripes on the side and it would be a '850 tc' tribute

Nick, those are clip on beam-converters/diffusers which were needed when driving on the right .

Deflected the headlamp beam for continental driving and yellow lights were preferred in France at the time.
