Would look nice on my Frog, shame the carbs are so small.

I'm surprised that Downton would supply an LCB with side-by-side downpipes, Sprites & Midgets have a fairly narrow closing panel between the chassis rail & inner wing, with a hole for the exhaust to pass through, which is why most LCB's for these cars have the twin downpipes arranged one in front of the other at the point where they pass through this hole, I have often tried fitting the type as illustrated, but without body modifications, not a chance!
This is the correct one, based on Abingdon's C-AHT 11

The exhaust manifold isn't a Downton one, but the carbs are spot on. Look at the collector box, it reminds me on one of those "budget LCB's" that used to be available in the 80's & 90's. Maybe they still are.

The original Downton Manifold would have been more or less the same as the Maniflow one. Maniflow is run by Dave Dorrington, an ex Downton man who still owns a lot of the original Downton Jigs. Downton made all original ST manifolds.

Thanks for the info, just had another thought, that kit would fit beautifully on an A30 / A35. 8-)

Or the Austin A40 Farina Mk1 I just bought. However, as stated above, small carbs probably wouldn't suit the build of the engine...overbore to 998, high compression pistons, Kent 266 cam...

Tom, Looking into building an in-line 998 for my current project I was advised that the best way, rather than overboring, is to use the 1098 block as it has the cam bearings the 948 lacks. If you put the 948 crank into this block (don't use the larger bearing block!) with 998 pistons you can actually build it with standard components and benefit from the better bearings.

you going for a 295 head or a 940?

They'd look quite good on an 848 Mini.

They sure do. Thanks for posting that up, I'm planning to put a set of Sprite H1s on an Alexander manifold on my Traveller.

Al,
A quick hi jack...
It boiled down to what I had available at the time. The block is being bored and line bored to accept the big pistons and cam bearings. I am spoiled for head options...most likely 295, though I have a good 206 also.
I'll probably use the Maniflow LCB/exhaust and twin HS2s on a Maniflow intake.

We restored a frogeye a few years ago and did not have the original manifold but did have the Downton twin H1 setup. If memory serve me correctly I am pretty sure that the bonnet would hit the dashpot tops before it was completely closed. Look at the upswept shape of the Downton inlet. This setup was made for the Mini not the Sprite.
We ended up searching for a correct frog manifold and that's what it had on it when we sold it.
