Having some floors made for the Van, hopefully in about 5-6 weeks I will have them.

Welding should start Saturday! Can't wait, things seem to be moving on now.

Somerford Mini are sorting it, we'll just collect from them when it's all done. It would have been possible to do it myself but comparing price/time it would take at least month off the build. The 'final' deadline is IMM 2014, but really I would like it done for Bristol or Castle Combe in 2013.

Front end is usually a weekends work, fitting the floors shouldn't take too long. The rear valance and corners will be started this weekend, that really just leaves lots of small jobs then.

If I worked on it 50 hours a week then it would probably be done by Castle Combe 2012 lol.

Question for any Van owners, would the Van have originally had a green roof inside, or white as it is here? The coat of paint is a naff handpainted looking coat... but I don't know for certain that it wouldn't have been white anyway.

The interior roof should be body coloured.

Excellent, I would prefer it to be green.

Removed the rear Valence and started working on the rear corners and floor.

Making really good progress Chris.
Considering the age of the van it looks to fairly well preserved.

Looked at your restoration photo's, that is some serious work, absolutely fantastic, you are to be congratulated, it looks brand new.

What was the welding process you used.

Looks like a similar amount of welding on my 61 van.Lovely colour too and with the way vans are rising in value, better than money in the bank. :)

Pretty much all gas welding, my Dad was the one responsible for the skills.

Hello ChrisB,

Thought it was gas welding, don't see much of it these days, I used to gas weld all my Mini repairs, just got to watch the heat input and distortion but its a lovely process and your Dad has done some lovely work, I don't think there can be very many youngsters who can gas weld, its a completely dying art, shame.

Love the van, willow green is a great colour.

Saw your van in the flesh today and I am mightily impressed with the high standard of the restoration. 8-) It's a real credit to you and your dad.

It doesn't hang about either. ;)
