Brands Hatch Mini Festival 2013
Like last year I will be going again to the festival.
Last year as a one car clubstand But this year a little bigger.
I'm very proud to have the replica 1275 GT racer of Chris Lewis on my clubstand. But you will not see it on my clubstand as Brands Hatch asked if it could stand on their main showground. So kind of arranged it. Further A13 GPN will do some rallying as well.
Some other names I will bring also : Graham Strugnell(GB) (former BL driver in Rallycross) Fred Kalkhuis(NL) also former Rallycross driver.
There will be some other cars to come to. Not that they have a long term history in racing, but they love to come and watch the action packed weekend.
So come over for a chat or you will find me with the racemini.nl T-Shirt.
Hope to meet some of you again.
Greetings Roald.

Re: Brands Hatch Mini Festival 2013
One of the early Cooper Works race Minis and a replica of its sister car are all set for the Brands Hatch Mini Festival.
"Known as Graphic due to its GPH 1C registration, the 1964 ex-works Austin Mini Cooper S that competed throughout the sixties in some of the world's biggest races and championships is set to attend the Brands Hatch Mini Festival on 22-23 June."
Paddy Hopkirk, whose 1964 Monte Carlo Rally winning Mini will also be on show, drove 'Graphic' to seventh place at Sebring in 1966 alongside Warwick Banks, who himself took the Mini to runner-up in the thriving British Touring Car Challenge in 1965. Julian Veraneve raced at the iconic Spa 24 hours in GPH 1C too.
CCK Historic racing and restoration is its home, and Daniel Lackey has been working with not only the original Mini, but also some of the original team members to return it to its former glory, including driver John Rhodes."
"It's the original Cooper Works car and we've just completed the restoration on it- literally a week ago- so it now looks as it did in 1965 when John Rhodes drove it. We're quite close with John Rhodes and Ginger Devlin, who was the chief engineer at Cooper, and have been for quite a few years. With their expertise we've restored how it should have been."
Another of their extensive collection will be making the trip to Brands Hatch Mini Festival, again the team have been hard at work to make it as original as possible even after nearly fifty years.
"We've also got a recreation of the sister car to GPH 1C with the number plate GPH 3C. We built the car with John Rhodes and Ginger Devlin in 2009, and that's basically a recreation of the car as it was in 1966 when John Rhodes drove it back then. It's a 1965 Mini Cooper S with a 1293cc racing engine.
"It actually has a lot of parts on the car that were from the originals courtesy of John Rhodes so it really is as accurate a works car as you're likely to find." said Daniel.

Re: Brands Hatch Mini Festival 2013
Yep,
There appears to be full grids for both the Anglo-French and Sanwa Trophy races, with a couple of celebrities thrown in for good measure.
Sadly going to be missing this year
Cheers,
Yorkie

Re: Brands Hatch Mini Festival 2013
im looking forwards to it
just hope my car is more reliable than it was last year, ive spunked a load of cash on it, and its just come back from the rolling road, so it looks promising (saw 8000 rpm on the rollers, thats back to the good old days!)
just corner weighted it and set all the suspension, so its about ready to go.
my brother is unable to share the car this year, so ive got my very own 'celebrity driver'
roll on a sunny brands (or at worse case, a sunny brands with rain during the race)

Re: Brands Hatch Mini Festival 2013
Great day at Brands Hatch today and no rain, back for more tomorrow!
If you are going tomorrow and are not racing or on a club stand follow the yellow signs from the main A20 for BH 'Southbank' parking (a black triangle) pay entry or show tickets as usual but the Southbank parking is free for Mini's/MINI's and allows you to park right inside the circuit with a view of the track from your car should it rain. The other bonus is at the end of the day around 5pm a BH course car will come to Southbank looking for volunteer Mini/MINI's to join the 2 circuit parade laps with all the show car Mini/MINI's which join at Paddock Hill bend. I did not know this but happened to be in the right place at the right time just as I was getting ready to leave., so got unexpected parade laps which was fun!
Also don't miss the Minisport MINI's on the rally circuit behind the paddock, not easy to find down a long footpath....or follow the rally MINI's passing back and forth and red rally signs.
See some pictures below of the day......sorry the order is a bit random and is not all Mk1's!
