Post by 999 ORX »

Does any body have a reference photo of some rosepetals painted anything other than grey or black? Haha! preferably old English white?

So funny Chris, I was thinking of asking the same question last night, but didn't get round to it.

I have some 'work wheels' (the japan copy) which some numpty has painted pearlescent white all over and am contemplating which colour to do them.

The options I have contemplated are:

1/ Classic matt black with silver rim/centre

2/ Silver all over

3/ gold all over - or maybe with silver rim/centre

4/ OEW all over - or maybe with silver rim/centre

I think the black looks good on cars with the black roof, but thought that my car (Surf/OEW) may look better with them another colour

Keen to hear what anyone thinks.

If it were me I'd be tempted to go for all over gold... it just seems to add something to an already nice car, whatever the colour of the bodywork. If I didn't have Dunlop D1s on my car I'd probably have gold Minilites (the thick rimmed style) or gold painted 'deep dished' JAPs given half a chance.

I remember seeing a set of white RPs on a surf blue car at bulee many many years ago. They suited the car very well.

The white is growing on me, but not the current pearl effect white that they are.

Paul, do you reckon straight white or OEW?

The other option i'm favouring is silver, probably straight sandblasted alloy, so they get nice and dirty 8-)

The other thing is they are 5inch and have a built in spacer of about 15mm, meaning I think they will need 'arches, unless I have the spacer milled off, in which case I'm concerned they will foul, especially at the rear.

I think gold would look great James, sort of done to not be trying to blend in with the rest too much.

Gold does look very good with surf, but be careful that its the right shade it makes a huge difference.

Thanks Ted,

Looks like a 10-71 ;)

Yeah, I don't think they look amazing in black on that colour car.

The jury is still out, the gold could be a go, and I know what you mean Paul about getting the shade right, not too clean and bright would be my aim.

Must search up some works cars with gold minilites.

Here we go

a long ago dream of a bit of cheeky sailors leg eh pete?

that's a great photo, misty windows suggesting damp carpets and been left out in the rain, parked haphazard in a uncut grass carpark by an owner not worried about people touching it

days gone by eh, that would live in a garage now and probably never get used!

I bet that mk1 & mk2 ashtray are rarer cars now than a mk1 mini!!!

I once owned a red C reg astra 4 door..was quite tidy! I also had a white mk1 Astra SR.. ohh sporty with its recaro seats.. Was quite nice actually.

The Red mk2 Astra GTE I owned was real cool though with the digital dash ;)

Before the opel C, I owned a Fiat Uno Turbo 1.3 IE, it also had one of them "Night Rider" dashes
some people were very impressed, when they saw all the flashing "gizmo,s"
Maybe it was one of them cars that should have been kept ?
Havent seen one, since I sold mine in 2005.
