Re: 1963 Super Deluxe Project
Cheers guys, should look a bit more shiny when the hub caps are also fitted.
My father used to work in a rubber mouldings company many years ago so he has old bags of grommets etc. that are in his workshop. Found these while searching for something else at the time and they fitted perfect but alas I don't know where you could get them nowadays. I'll have a chat to him though and see if he can remember what they were made for originally.BRI MK1 wrote:great little car well done, where did you get the grommets for the front panel if you could let me know cheers brian.

Re: 1963 Super Deluxe Project
Finished some further jobs on the car in order to complete the project.
To start with the jack has been finished after its refurb and we made up a case to keep it in.
Then we fitted the original tax disc holder that came with the car when purchased from new. Bit of a clean up and it looks great with a link to the garage that sold the car.
Some of you may have seen the request on this site for suggestions for some overmats to protect the carpet. Opted for a clear boot mat in the end which we then cut to the right shape for the mini floor areas. Really great and allows you to not only see the original colour of the carpets but also it doesn't slide about due to the little pimples on the underside
So here are the finished pics of the car after bit of a clean up.

Such a cool car and a joy to drive. Really happy
Our first Mini event will be the London to Brighton run next Sunday so if anyone is there and would like to see the car in the flesh by all means pop over and say hello.

Lovely job done there, the car looks superb so congratulations. A word of warning about the plastic mats though. We have this stuff on carpet at work and the dirt seems to work off the edge and lodge in the carpet leaving dirty marks along the edges.

Cheers for the heads up on the dirt, will keep an eye on it. You just have to breath on powder blue carpet and it shows up dirt so definitely needed something.

Re: 1963 Super Deluxe Project
Well what a day we had, had an absolutely stonking London to Brighton event and was so much fun with some great weather finally showing its face.
An early start meant we arrived at Crystal Palace and a chance to see so many Mini's together with some more Mk1's to ogle at.
We set off at just after 8 and made our journey down south. First real long run and with 4 up the radiator overflow pipe decided to chuck out a load of manky water all over the passenger wheel arch and down the underside of the floor so that meant quite a lot of cleaning up to do as we had entered the show and shine competition.
But none the less we had arrived at the seaside.
As mentioned we entered the show and shine competition and even though there were some outstanding examples on show, to round off a great day, we only went and won 1st place in our class with cars from 59 to 69
Such a great reward for all the hard work Dad and I have put into the car and we had loads of family and friends that had come down throughout the day and join us which made I even more special.
Great to put some names to faces from people here on the Mk1 forum and had some good little chats.

Re: 1963 Super Deluxe Project
good effort on the prize
at a large show like l2b, there must be some serious competition!
whats next, another restoration?

Re: 1963 Super Deluxe Project
Haha, not in the short term. Now a time to enjoy and I have a new house to get to how we want so that will keep me busy.
No doubt in a few years time though the bug to play with something else may be too great to ignore so we'll see....

Re: 1963 Super Deluxe Project
Another little update. Just to say I did a photo shoot for Mini Magazine yesterday. Couldn't have asked for better weather and hats off to the photographer as the pics I saw on the day looked absolutely awesome. Can't wait to see how the feature turns out in a future edition of the magazine

Hahaha, as I quickly scrolled down the page and that image loaded up it looked like a picture showing the aftermath of an awful accident Mini skidded to a halt across the road, a body on the floor!
