Bump stops for competition

Hi folks,

Am (slowly) re-building to get back out circuit racing and one of the many things I never sorted properly 1st time round was bump stops. so would welcome any wise words you might have.

As far as I can see you do some/all of the following..... run without, have bump stops on the shocks (but probably needs 'special' shocks), use a harder or cut down standard bump stop or use the (I think) hydrolastic bump stops sold by well known emporio like the gurus.

1st time round I ran with what the car came with which was the front bump stop replaced by a thin (3mm ish) washer(I did check that that suspension moved that far without binding) and no bump stops on the rear - no anti-roll bars, normal (cross pin) diff, lowered to mighty mini level and running 175/50 13 yoko a048s.

Just before the coming together which required the re-build (ironically with a new mini in testing....) I was going to try the hydrolastic bump stops working on the theory that would be better to try and limit roll (especially with the 13s).

This time looking to use the 165/55 12 A048s and a normal diff modded to give some limited slip.

I've fitted these to my Racing Mini, and to be honest, there isn't much room for bump stops...

if your trying to control the roll, id fit a rear anti roll bar.

a mini with correctly set up suspension and a rear anti roll bar is just about a perfect mini for road or race conditions in my opinion

Thanks, sure you're right about a rear arb set up

but (as well as the usual desire to control the budget) kinda of like the idea of seeing what I can do with a more basic set up then when I do put more trick stuff on I appreciate (and maybe understand it) a bit better... well thats the idea, see how long I last
