Hi I wonder if anyone can help. I have bought a Benelite grill for my 1071, it had one after market fitted from new but got damaged and thrown away long before I acquired it. It has all the wriring and someone installed two switches on the binnacle for the spot/fog lights.
I understand that the spots tend to be Lucas 576 and would have to be rear fixing - but did they have the chrome back on or where they without the back on? Also were any other types of lamps used.
Thank you for any assistance and any photos would be much appreciated
Mike

The Bennelite grill on my W&P has Lucas LR9's, rear mounted with chrome backs.

the brackets on mine have a long slot that allows for rear and bottom fitting ( no jokes please)

Re: Benelite Grille - What type of 576 Spots were used
Having had a look they are Wipac's one has a unipart lens on it, which fits perfectly, there also looks to be the number GAC 102 on the back of one of them so perhaps they are a matched set which got converted so that one was a spot and one was a fog? , the grill has been with the car a very long time, but I prefer the standard Austin grill it had, so I put it back on, this one can go back on if I ever feel like it

Mark many thanks for the photos. I do like the look of the standard Austin grille as well but as the history of the car shows it had a Benelite fitted as an aftermarket fitting I thought I would try and acquire a grille and see what it looks like.

No problem, must have been a popular mod as my car has also had one for a very long time, just nice to have the choice of what to run
